Greg Stolze - SwitchFlipped.
SwitchFlipped is a fast-paced, gritty urban fantasy novel set in the cracks behind what we think of as reality.
The love of Jasper’s life has been a missing person for the last five years, so he’s completely dumbfounded when she wakes him up in the middle of the night and drags him to bed. Twenty-four wild hours later she’s gone again, as suddenly as she appeared, without so much as a hint of explanation. Jasper is left without answers, without hope, and without any idea what to do about his current girlfriend.
The only clue that Jasper has is a peculiar word, accidentally blurted: “Switchflipped.” Compelled to go digging for answers, he is slowly drawn deeper and deeper into the occult underground. Reality, it turns out, is a lot less real than he’d imagined. Jasper finds himself sinking into a lunatic world where people can turn into electricity, where the undead live suburban lives, and where nothing is impossible if you’re prepared to pay the price.
Thrown into a vicious fight that he didn’t seek and doesn’t even really understand, Jasper has to look deep into himself to uncover his true nature. When your contemporaries include a woman who’s also a building, a miracle-working saint, and one of the secret monarchs of American automobiles, the choice between love and power is harder than ever.

A note from Greg.Hi. My name’s Greg Stolze and if you want to see vast swaths of my career, it’s all splayed out like a centerfold at www.gregstolze.com. These days, there’s particular emphasis on http://www.gregstolze.com/fiction_library/index.html – that’s where you can get the stories of lonesome teen boys, fish horror, historically and medically accurate zombies, bent cops, pedicures (well… one pedicure), sword-fighting adulterers, ghosts, multiple-universe dating conundrums and one fellow who might be a vampire or who might just be a sort of sentient symbolic enzyme.
As for me, the hand up the bottoms of all those literary sock puppets, I’m really just some guy. I’m 40, nervous, with terrible posture but a surprisingly deep and resonant speaking voice. If you want to ask me a question about my work (or about jujitsu, which is another thing I do, or my recommended reads or whatever), email or follow me on Twitter (@gregstolze) or, if you hate Twitter and email and only communicate online via forums, you can find mine at forgreatjustice.net/bbs. Even then, you’ll have to use email to convince me you’re a human being. I get a LOT of spambots and have valiantly fought back every last one. |
